Stable soliton in the fiber-optic system with self-frequency shift

چکیده
We show that when narrowband filtering and nonlinear gain are considered, long-distance propagation of stable pulses in a fiber-optic system can be realized in the presence of self-frequency shift. We analyze the system by using the perturbative approach and obtain steady-state solutions and their existence conditions. The steady-state solutions are studied by linear stability analysis. Typical examples are given for stable pulse propagation over long distances, in fiber-based transmission lines. The results are verified by direct solution of partial differential equations numerically. Finally we show that our result is also suitable for investigation of the stable soliton in fiber lasers. A typical numerical example is given. © 2003 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: 060.5530, 060.0060, 320.7140, 190.2640.

Unified description of ultrafast stimulated Raman scattering in optical fibers
Coupled nonlinear equations that describe the nonlinear process of stimulated Raman scattering in optical fibers are derived. These equations account in a unified manner for the Raman amplification, the Stokes generation, the induced self-frequency shift, and the interpulse stimulated Raman-scattering-induced crossfrequency shift. The equations reduce to a well-known form for relatively wide pi...

When ultrashort pulses with large enough power are launched into highly nonlinear fibers, soliton fission gives origin to multiple fundamental solitons of different widths and peak powers. Two soliton related effects become then particularly important in the context of supercontinuum generation: the soliton self-frequency shift and the emission of dispersive radiation in the normal dispersion r...

Phase sensitive analysis of femtosecond pulse propagation in optical fibers employing frequency resolved optical gating (FROG) is presented and compared to numerical simulations employing a modified cubic nonlinear Schr€ odinger equation (NLSE). Phase information obtained from deconvolution of the experimental traces allows the observation and characterization of specific pulse propagation feat...
متن کاملRecovery of the soliton self-frequency shift by optical phase conjugation.
The recovery of the self-frequency shift effect on a soliton by optical phase conjugation is investigated. It is proved that, without third-order dispersion and fiber loss, the soliton self-frequency shift can be completely recovered. The recoveries for a fundamental soliton and a second-order soliton in the presence of third-order dispersion and of fiber loss, which is compensated by the distr...

Two-photon excitation (TPE) is a modern technology with applications in microscopy and spectroscopy that has gained a great amount of attention in recent years. This technique is the best suitable to analyze thick tissues and live animals as it works in the near-infrared (NIR) region. In this work we implement and evaluate a two-photon setup that allows the shifting of the working wavelength ov...
